Established in 1969
The Mongols Motorcycle Club was established on December 5, 1969 in the East Los Angeles area in the city of Montebello, California. So Cal Chapter was formed with the first fifteen members. Within a 5 year span other chapters were formed: Los Angeles (L.A.), San Diego (Dago), Bakersfield, Long Beach, San Gabriel Valley (S.G.V.), and San Fernando Valley (S.F.V.).
The Mongols M.C. developed an immediate strong hold in the Southern California area. At the time and even now there were really no other 1%er clubs co-existing in these areas.
During the early 1970's the Mongols M.C. launched this new American biker movement into the West Coast area. At the time it was misunderstood. This was a lifestyle for these brothers riding around on their chopped Harley Davidson motorcycles through the streets of East LA. Most of the new members were U.S. military veterans. They were used to a strict code of silence, respect, and camaraderie, and that's what made them a force to be reckoned with!
There was always a certain mystique about the Club. After time, the public understood and learned to accept and finally embrace this unique American culture.
Led by Genghis Khan, the Mongols divided and conquered big countries throughout Eastern Europe in the early 1200's.
They were known to be highly disciplined, superbly coordinated and brilliant in tactics. The Mongols were fearless warriors on horseback. Yet small in numbers with a lot of heart they dominated and decimated their enemies; Hence the Mongols name that we now wear proudly on our backs, but the difference now is we ride motorcycles. At the end of the day it's about "Quality not Quantity!"
Throughout the years the Mongols Motorcycle Club has grown and has established chapters in many cities, states, and countries. We have formed a solid motorcycle brotherhood throughout the world that "No One" can break.
The Mongols patch is one of the most recognized symbols in the motorcycle world. The logo features a fearsome Mongol warrior riding a motorcycle, wielding a sword — an embodiment of the warrior spirit that Genghis Khan's empire was built upon.
Wearing the patch is not a right — it is a privilege earned through dedication, loyalty, and sacrifice. Every member who wears the Mongols colors carries the weight of the brotherhood's history and the responsibility to uphold its values.
The colors represent everything the club stands for: the black background symbolizes the strength and resilience of the brotherhood, while the gold lettering represents the value and honor of the bond between members.
From its founding, the Mongols M.C. has had deep ties to the United States military. Many of the original fifteen founding members were veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces who had served their country with distinction.
These men brought with them a warrior's discipline, an unshakable sense of duty, and the understanding that true loyalty means standing shoulder to shoulder with your brothers regardless of the odds. The strict code of silence and respect that defines the club was born from military traditions.
To this day, many Mongols members have served or continue to serve in the military. The transition from military brotherhood to motorcycle brotherhood is a natural one — both demand sacrifice, courage, and an unwavering commitment to those who stand beside you.
Beyond the rides and the road, the Mongols M.C. is a family. Members come together for celebrations, ceremonies, and gatherings that strengthen the bonds of brotherhood. From weddings to memorial runs, every event is a testament to the loyalty and love that defines the club.
These moments — shared between brothers, their families, and their community — are what make the Mongols more than just a motorcycle club. They are the fabric of a lifestyle built on honor, respect, and an unwavering commitment to one another.
Whether it's a chapter meeting at the table, a coast-to-coast ride, or a celebration under the stars, every gathering reinforces the same truth: Mongols Forever, Forever Mongols.
When the Mongols ride, they ride together. A pack of brothers on their machines, taking over the streets in formation — that's the essence of the club. The ride is not just transportation; it's a statement, a ritual, a way of life.
Every ride-out is a display of unity and power. The sound of dozens of engines roaring through the night is unmistakable — it's the heartbeat of the brotherhood, echoing through every street and highway they claim.
“Quality not Quantity. That's what made us who we are — small in numbers with a lot of heart.
